KUALA LUMPUR, 5 August 2025 — In conjunction with Merdeka and Malaysia Day, Kenangan Coffee and Kapten Batik unveil Serumpun, an exclusive collaboration that celebrates the spirit of unity through shared appreciation for Malaysian craft and heritage.

Drawing from the Malay word Serumpun, which means “of the same root,” this partnership honours the deep cultural ties that bind us — no matter how different our mediums may be. Together, the two brands reimagine national pride through a lifestyle lens, fusing Kenangan’s signature coffee experience with Kapten Batik’s bold design language.

The campaign kicks off with an exclusive launch event on 12 August 2025 at The Exchange 106, TRX, featuring sip and paint sessions, coffee tasting, and first access to the limited-edition Serumpun capsule collection — a curated lineup of batik-inspired merchandise including collectible totes, lanyards, apparel, and drinkware.

“We believe coffee is more than a beverage — it’s a medium to connect and express,” said Jordan Lung, General Manager of Kenangan Coffee Malaysia. “Through Serumpun, we invite Malaysians to experience their heritage through a fresh, unexpected format.”

“Kapten Batik has always explored identity through craft,” said Syazwan Asyraf, Creative Service Manger at Kapten Batik. “This collaboration allows us to go beyond the product — to create moments and spaces that spark conversation and cultural appreciation.”

Throughout August and September, select Kenangan Coffee and Kapten Batik locations nationwide will transform into cultural touchpoints, offering customers collectible merchandise, exclusive in-store and online perks, and interactive experiences including batik painting workshops and coffee tasting sessions.

Serumpun is more than a collaboration — it’s a shared celebration of what it means to be Malaysian.
